Although
you now see a brown lizard, this is the same exact green lizard as before.
They can change colors to help camouflage themselves and hide from
predators. The color change is remarkable. They can go from a
bright, grassy green, to a dark tree-bark brown. It seems like every
time I've ever found one, they are green. When I start handling them,
they then turn brown. I don't know if that is a response to the color
they are on or the fact that since they are being handled, they know the
green color isn't working so they try something else. I wonder what
color the lizard would assume if he crawled through a candy cane factory?
